Computer Problems...uuuuggghh

So I finished the inks on the next piece for Testimony of Palidos.  I scanned it in, and pieced it together.  Cleaned it up.  Then I ate dinner came back checked email, and tried to get back into photoshop to color the comic, and....my computer crashed....it crashed bad.  If I cannot get the data off my hard drive i may have lost a lot of work and files I need.  Sooooooo.  i need to get the graphix machine fixed. And that means I need to save up to get it.

This will not get me down though.  I still have all the inked art, and can continue to ink and work, I just cant color, letter, and get the old files if i can. ....

Thank you all for your continued support.  Gotta have a black belt attitude to keep a postive one.  Keep moving forward, and roll with the punches.

I have a lot of things going on at the Church today and I think we are going to Deck the Halls, or House tonight,

Maybe I will try to find a way to let you see the progress yet this weekend.

Happy Thanks Giving, update

Hello all you cool people who have stopped by.

I had an amazing Thanks Giving Yesterday, and today was been good as well.  We sure have a lot to be thankful for.

So what have I been up too?  Well I have been a busy beaver.  I wish it all was art, but that is not the case.  As you all know I helped my Dad move, and with that move I took on some more responsibilities at my church.  I have been BUSY with those responsibilities.  They are worth it though.

I have still been working on Testimony of Palidos, though on a slower pace right now.  Having a day off let me get the inks finished for some more art to post, as soon as I get it colored.  Looking forward to moving along with this.  I have some fun stuff planned.  Action, adventure, dragons, magic, and did I mention dragons.  Anyone who really knows me knows I love dragons.

I have also slowly been working on some art for the Angeldreams comics for Visionland studios.  That also has been  fun as well.

Trying to balance this all out with all my other responsibilities can be a challenge  but so worth it.  For those who do not know, I am a husband, father of four, a Sensei ( Martial Arts Instructor) and super involved with my Church.... and I hold a full time job on top of that.  Just so you all know.   So the art is a passion that keeps me sane.

I hope to have some art up today or tomorrow  but we will just have to wait and see.

James the imaginator.

Mid Week Update! and I am feeling sick

Goodmorning...ish

Well today I am feeling not so good, head cold allergies something.  I struggled through yesterday thinking I was better, but when I got up this morning I felt horrible.  So I called the boss and told him I was going to take some meds and go back to bed.  That is exactly what I did.  I still got up 3-4 hours later feeling like I stinking MAC Truck ran over my head.

Yet in the world of web comics I trudge on.  Monday through Wednesday I don't usually get much done on the web comic front as I generally teach martial arts.  I did get some done Monday though, and hope to trudge through some today.

We have had some cool comments on the web comic "The Testimony of Palidos".  Some that stick out in my mind is that there is some suspense as to what is coming next.  I even had a guy tell me he really wants to now what did this guy Palidos do to put him in this predicament   Well I wont give you guys too many spoilers, but I will tell you we do get out of this sanctuary / court room and see some action.  There will be all sorts of battles, all sorts of beasts and monsters ( yes for those who know of my love of dragons there will be a dragon or two. )  There will be magic, and dark magic, and there will be plots withing plots.

This adventure story is over 7 years in the making.  When I created the world for the "Disciples and Destroyers" ( which the Testimony of Palidos is only one adventure of) I took time to create a world.  Some of these races I have fleshed out cultures, scripts, and belief systems.  When I was thinking about doing a comic in this world I actually have three or four comic arc's I would love to do.  It was really hard to decide  which one I was going to choose. I did in the long run choose "The Testimony of Palidos" because it involved a party of Several different races.  So it was a good one to introduce this world.

One thing I will tell you is that we see a centaur in these pages already.  They were not a race I had fleshed out yet, but were in the world, so choosing one as the court bailiff was a new idea, but I was looking a the script and thought, a human up there just doesn't seem as intimidating. So I thought hey a centaur would be intimidating.  I sure wouldn't want to fight an armed centaur.  So we have one.

Keep the letters coming, and hey even toss in some fan pics, and maybe I will post them.  You are all an encouragement to me.  I am having a blast, and am glad to be able to use my God given talent in a way I always wanted too.

Web Comic Site web design updates

Followers of Strait Arrow Graphix,

Well the last major change we made to the layout of the Web Comic Hosting Site ( ComicFury) was done so we could make the changes Linda and I made today.  One thing we wanted to do was Tie this blog to the  Web Comic Sites blog button.  Originally the Web Comic Site button would take you to their blog system.  Since we already had a blog set up we wanted this blog site to be the portal to all the other sites that Strait Arrow Graphix utilizes.  So With GREAT effort Linda was able to do that

We also wanted to put our Top Web Comics Vote button on the site. Again Linda came to the rescue with her super abilities to steal web code and insert it where we need it.  So now you can click the TWC button on the actual Web Comic site to Vote for it.

The other thing we changed were the buttons that navigated the comic book pages.  When we went with this layout the buttons for the previous, next, first and last buttons were nasty green arrows that made Linda want to scream.  So for the protection of ears everywhere I drew up some sword buttons to put in their place.  We had to locate the location in the code ( I actually helped this time) and I had to draw these little guys in photoshop at a ridiculously small scale.  My wacom tablet came to the rescue once again to let me do just that.

So with all that said why are you still here ready this stuff, go check it out. Go now quit reading this jumbled up stuff I am typing.

To get there quicker here is the link

The Web Comic you are supposed to go check out!!!!

Well I am going to stop typing now because some of you have not gone to look at the comic site and are determined to keep reading what I type.

Mid Week Update! 9-5-12

 Good Morning

Well the work continues.  Yesterday got a little slower as dad came back into town to get more of his stuff, and I went to help him.  Yet I have been keeping busy.  I am into the coloring stages of one of the pages, and have one on the ol' drawing board being penciled and inked.  I think I am pretty much ready for this weekend's web comic post.  I just have to format it to fit the web.

The web comic is getting a little more notice on a couple of the web comic list sites and that is exciting.  Last Saturday we had 249 page views, and Sunday we had another 50, and was back up to 100 on Monday.  So we are slowly getting noticed.  This is just the beginning, and I am having a blast. I was also able to get a few "Testimony of Palidos" merchandise up for sale. You can check that out by going to the buy our art button on the site here, or clicking here Strait Arrow Store.

You can still check out the web comic here:

Testimony of Palidos

And try to take some time to vote for the comic-

Well have a great day everyone.

Wed Morning Mid Week Vacation Update

Good Morning!

Man did we get some work done yesterday. Yep I said WE. My wife and partner in crime spent a ton of time working on the Web Comic Site. We had to completely change the layout, and some of the things we want to do can only be done by changing the sites html and css coding. So Linda spent hours yesterday afternoon and evening changing colors and taking one of comicfury's template layouts and changing it to what we want. We still have more plans, but needed one that was able to be looked at for this weekend. We still want to get a vote button up and a link to direct the blog button back to our main blog site here.

On the art end of the comic I rocked out some work last night. Man this has been fun. I have not done this much comic work in a while and I am loving it. I am hoping to have art ready to scan today and work on some more colors and lettering.

I am moving my Dad this weekend, so I may have to post the much anticipated First piece of the comic early ( yes it is done) To keep ahead of schedule. So keep checking back. I will let you all know though.

Well check out the comic site and let us know how you like the changes. And if you ever have suggestions feel free to send them back either hear or on our facebook page.

If you want the hyperlink to the site so you dont have to click anywhere else here it is.

Testimony of Palidos

Oh and try to take some time to vote for the web comic. the higher up on the list we are the more views we get.

Well I think that is all for now.

Working on Comic and Blog Site Layouts and elements

Well I am working on some of the web comic sites layout and elements as well as layout and elements on our Blog Site here at Blogger. I am running into some snags as I cannot seem to edit the current layout's HTML code at comicfury the way I want too with the way I have it all set up. So I may have too restart the layout right now so I can add the voting banners, and get it's blog button to link right back here. Dont get me wrong I like comicfury and the options it has. I just have to go another route. the ever awesome Linda ( my partner in crime ) is working on some assisting as we speak, er as I type anyhow.

so if you want to see some weird things happening as I try to get it the way I have it in my head check out the comic site

Testimony of Palidos

Also Linda mentioned my cool font I had on here was hard to read so I changed it. Please let me know if you can read the post better now.

You will notice too that I have some vote for the web comic buttons on here too. If you can take time to vote for us. The higher the votes the higher I am on these list the more notice we get!

Well time to get back at it

James

Getting Things Done!

Good Morning!

Well yesterday was a good day for Strait Arrow Graphix. I got much done that I wanted too. I managed to get some penciling and inking done on the comic. I also was able to play with the comic web site layout. I figured out some web design things, like adding a fixed background to the comic, and that sort of things. Im still trying to get the blog button to come back to my main blog, and kinda streamline this being the main portal for Strait Arrow Graphix.

I was up again till 1 am working...my wife the awesome woman that she is tried to let me sleep in...but our five year old must of had a bad dream and was in my bed. She squirmed like a jello wiggler on a fishing line though and so I was awake again at 7:30.

If you want to check out the changes to the web comic site you can hit the tab at the top of this blog or you can hit this link

WEB COMIC NEWS!

Hi all, thanks for coming by. So I have been busy, I almost have the cover art done for my web comic, and I have decieded that I am going to officially start it up September First. That should give me time to have some art done ahead of the game. Well here is the web site to look at it. Well one of them, but here it is. Let me know what you think James At Strait Arrow Graphix

What is Going on at Strait Arrow Graphix?

So what have we been up too at Strait Arrow Graphix? Well I suppose it is time to tell... Linda has been working on editing pictures for 10Eproductions like a mad woman...and being a mom of awesomeness. James has two pieces in his que before he hits a long term project of his own for Strait Arrow. So my goal today is to work on the comic pages for Vision Land, try to get them all laid out, ask Mark over there for permission to post some of the work and brainstorming I did for it, and maybe post some of that. I also have to finish the colors for the Dragon and Armor of God piece, When I get those too done I will be....Taking up the mighty pencil of the imaginator and working on my own COMIC, "The Testimony of Palidos." I just have to do it, get it drawn and done. This morning I drew up a costume / armor design for a Minotaur, and then I will work on more of that later too... At this point I have talked to Linda about using a web comic platform for this book, So I am working on figuring all that out...Stay tuned and I will maybe share a link for that. For now here is a pic from this morning...

Hey All, i know it seems its been a bit quiet here at Strait Arrow Graphix, Last week work was a bit lean... but I was working. Have a couple things brewing over here. Still working on the pages for Vision Land Comics, and have a dragon pic still in the que, but I have another project back from the past making a come back...more news on that later, Linda by the way has been editing pictures for 10Eproductions like a mad lady! She also did a cool cake this weekend. Maybe I can hunt up those pics... She is amazing. For now a question? what is your favorite fantasy race? Elves, Dwarves, Dragons, let us know, either here, our face book page, or email us at mouselad@gmail.com Later...James

Welcome, and Hello

Welcome to our blog space, I hope to answer a couple questions right off

1.) Who the heck are we?   Well I am James Tenney, and my wife is Linda Tenney.  Together we make up Strait Arrow Graphix.  I do much of the drawing, and illustrating, some graphic design work, while Linda does photography, photo editing, and graphic design.  We have done logos, ads, fliers, t shirt designs, comic work, illustrating, and cartoons.

I (James ) have been doodling since I was a kid, and always wanted to get into art.  I have done  design work for churches, universities, small press comic books, martial art schools and private commissions.

Linda has done ad / graphic design work , photography and photo editing for jewelers, photography studious, churches, and private individuals

2.) Why set up a blog?  Our work is spread all over and we needed a single portal to link it all.  We have work at Deviant Art, 10eproductions, 10egiftshop, facebook, and more, but we needed a spot to link it all together.

thanks for checking us out.

James Tenney
